What's in the news regarding Electric Vehicles?

Electric Vehicles are all over the news - we've rounded up a few top stories for you.

Mazda announces it will release it’s first all-electric car in 2020.

There’s no information about what kind of model the electric Mazda might actually be. There’s also no indication of where Mazda may release the EV — will it come to the US, or just Europe, considering the publication, and the subject of EU emissions?

The UK’s best and worst cites to own an electric car were revealed in the Daily Express

Greater London has the greatest amount of charging points - 3,096 - which is one per every 2,227 licence holders. There are a total of 6,893,909 licence holders registered in London.

Sunderland has the most point per charger with one per every 1,460 licence holders. However, there are just 127,015 licence holders and 87 charging points.

Portsmouth is lagging behind, according to the data, with just 16 charging points for its 516,602 licence holders.

Shrewsbury, Derby, and Stoke are also woefully lagging behind with just 11, 26 and 23 charging points per licence holder in each city

Milton Keynes and Dundee rank in the top three with a decent amount of points per license holder.

Autocar.co.uk has done some ‘real world’ testing of electric vehicle ranges.

The following came out on top.

  1. Hyundai Kona Electric 259 miles
  2. Jaguar I-Pace and Kia e-Niro both clocked 253 miles
  3. Tesla Model X 233 miles
  4. Tesla Model S 75kWh 204 miles

The BBC reported that BMW and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) are to join forces on developing electric car technologies.

The car giants said they would work together to develop electric motors, transmissions and power electronics.
